Description
System of Rice Intensification explores alternative ways of resource efficient method for paddy cultivation comparing it with the existing resource intensive post Green Revolution conventional method. The book marks a shift from the adoption of scientific and technological practices emanating from a centralized knowledge system and centralized management of input supply to one based on indigenous knowledge systems and local supplies. There are 15 research papers covering (a) SRI Method, Technology, Resource Use Efficiency and Productivity, (b) Biodiversity and Ecological Security and (c) SRI Future Area Expansion and Policy Concerns. The papers describe evolution of an innovation that is basically farmer centric, reduces water inputs, and challenges high input driven post Green Revolution agricultural practices.
