Description

Biomaterials are natural or synthetic materials that are intended to interact avec biological systems to evaluate, treat, augment, or replace any tissue, organ or function de le body. Un biomaterial substrate composed de nanometer-scale components is known as nano-biomaterial. Nano-biomaterials have an increased number de atoms at their surface et possess a higher surface area to volume ratio than conventional micro-scale biomaterials. Biomaterials are increasingly being used pour medical applications like joint replacements, bone plates, bone cement, artificial ligaments et tendons, dental implants pour tooth fixation, heart valves, artificial tissues, bioimaging et biosensing. Le volume 11 is intended to serve as a reference book pour students, teachers, researchers as well as professionals who are willing to acquire detailed understanding de le otherwise wide area de biomaterials pour their potential biomedical applications. To meet le above objectives this volume covers following topics: Introduction de nano-biomaterials; Expérimental techniques pour synthesis de bio-nanomaterials et their applications en catalysis et sensing; Synthesis de fully interconnected macropore forming calcium phosphate cement (FMF-CPC) pour artificial bone substitution; Biomedical applications de C60 buckeyballs, iron oxide nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, gold nanoparticles, nano BaSO4, dendrimers et ceramics; Properties et applications de lipids, proteins et polysaccharides pour drug delivery systems; Effect de sport et energy drinks sur dental restorative materials; Stimulus-responsive nanomaterials pour targeted drug delivery; Host tissue response to implanted biomaterial; Chitosan based nanoparticles - preparation methods et their biomedical et pharmaceutical applications. This volume contains 19 chapters from 63 researchers and/or academicians representing 15 countries, namely Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Inde, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, United States et Vietnam presenting an overview de le research being carried out en different parts de le world sur biomaterials.
